Another man overboard

Comedian Trevor Marmalade has been axed from - or, as he puts it, decided not to renew his contract with - the AFL Footy Show. Should we start a sweep: Who's next to go from Channel 9? I bet everybody there wishes they had Eddie McGuire's lawyer...

Sweep eh? My pick is... Doug
Sweep eh? My pick is... Doug Murray. (Strange pick, but hey!)
But seriously for a moment
But seriously for a moment Brett, I would be worried if I worked at Nine (or Seven for that matter), after today's announcement that large US media group Tribune Company (which owns the Los Angeles Times and The Chicago Tribune) have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy with US$13billion in debt [More Here http://www.news.com.au/business/story/0,27753,24772907-462,00.html ]. Nine's up to it's ears in debt, while 7 could be drowning in it too, provided they take a shot at Western Australian Newspapers...
What I am saying is, if this media debt "tsunami" flows through to Australia, it will be a lot worse than first feared. It won't just be Bruce Paige worried for his job security, it will be most people (both on and off-air) in the Australian TV industry. As proven by Tribune in the US, there will be no immunity from this crisis, no matter how big a media company you are.
Things are no brighter
Things are no brighter here in the UK. It's going to get worse before it gets better, that's for sure.
Brett, big news coming out
Brett, big news coming out of the ABC this morning. Finally a new site in Brisbane has been announced, with South Bank (between QPAC and the Queensland Conservatorium of Music) being the site that the ABC's Brisbane operations will move to in 2011.
I honestly think that South Bank would be a perfect location for a Brisbane TV station, It served that purpose well during Expo, it will serve it again in 2011...
Thanks again, K. I have
