Karl Stefanovic and Leila McKinnon have reportedly recorded a pilot for a new 5.30pm show for the Nine network. If it goes ahead, will it be screened at 5pm in Brisbane, or is Extra finally in for the chop? Meanwhile, Emily Jade O'Keeffe is said (by her colleagues at couriermail.com.au, where O'Keeffe has a blog) to be one of 10 women in the running for Sami Lukis's job at Brisbane's Triple M. As I've said before, Triple M will want to choose carefully because breakfast radio will be a whole new ballgame next year. It would be a shame for the station to squander the ratings gains it has made in recent surveys by choosing the wrong person.
Update: The Sunday reports that Heather Foord may host Extra next year. Interestingly, Nine news boss Lee Anderson doesn't commit to anything in the story. In fact, he doesn't even say that Extra will be returning next year.

If I were Nine, I wouldn't be screwing around with the Brisbane lead-in (especially as you have a new reader next year). If Extra is dumped, there will be a outcry, because once Extra's gone, there will be nothing local (I don't count the weekend advertorials on 7) on the box. In today's world, there needs to be more of a local flavor to free to air television.

Glass half empty again brett. I think that finally 9 has seen the light and realised how successful brisbane extra is and will copy it everywhere else. I bet you $10 that brisbane extra will continue and the rest of the states will use it as a benchmark for local programming. good luck to emily jade too...although the obvious choice is right in front of them and already on the air in brisbane.

Are you suggesting Anon, that Camilla would be moving from B105 down the hall to 4MMM? They only just got ratings back on track at 105, wiping out gains is the wrong thing to do, right Brett?
Besides, they are probably waiting on the final set of radio ratings of the year...
and I'm still waiting on the final percentage, who won 2008 in Brisbane TV 9 or 7, local spirit or networked anger, culture or counter-culture, keeping tradition or destroying tradition...

hahaha no way on Camilla it would be worse than Emily. Perhaps a former staffer from Triple M who has done pretty ok with the ratings this year and someone that no one is talking about as a replacement. Also in todays Sunday Mail it is tipped that Heather Forde will front brisbane extra next year so all that talk about the show being cancelled looks unlikely. I think shed do a good job. They also say Gillian will go back to news. interesting.

There are 9 other more interesting women than Emily, I hope Bianca Dye gets the job. Extra is great, and I would like to see more of Camilla on tv.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find the "10 hosts in 10 days" audition format Triple M are using to "pick" their next female breakfast presenter a bit creepy?
I've never known blokes to be auditioned this way.
It's just a little bit Miss Universe for me. I wouldn't be surprised if they held a bikini or talent competition.
It's not a new thing either; they've done it before (from memory serves, when Leisa was chosen)

It's just a gimmick, but you're right that it is a bit creepy. I think it's also quite false, because I'm sure they already know who they are going to hire. If they don't, they've not done the job properly. And if they are turning it into a popularity contest, they're taking a huge risk.

As a presenter (and in person) she is vain, uninteresting and humourless. I think Bianca Dye would be the obvious and most popular choice.
