What's in a name?

The decision to name a Perth theatre complex after the late Dark Knight star Heath Legder may be overturned. It never made sense to me in the first place, as Ledger was primarily known as a film actor not a stage performer. It's a bit like naming a rugby league ground after an AFL player.

I have this comment on
I have this comment on another forum, but it's worth saying again. There is a good deal of difference between an actor and a movie star. Heath Ledger was a movie star, so name the theatre after an actor !
Acting is all interconnected
Acting is all interconnected anyway - so what's the difference?
And who’s not to say that he may have made a great stage actor as well, some day?
Besides, what happened to non-linear - and what if?!
This is a theatre complex we're talking about...
But naming it after him
But naming it after him denies them the chance to name it after a worthy theatre identity. Name the next set of cinemas after Heath Ledger, and name this one after a stage person.
Think of it as ‘poetic
Think of it as ‘poetic licence’ – where a theatre has blurred the borders of stage and film and the name is subjugated by the psyche.
