Operation for Labrat

I guess it was inevitable that somebody called Labrat would end up in a medical facility. The B105 breakfast announcer had severe pain, was diagnosed on air and underwent emergency surgery to remove his appendix. There's more, including audio, here. I wish him well. PS: In Sydney, there are growing rumours that WSFM's Jonesy and Amanda will move to Triple M next year. The annual movement at the stations has well and truly begun.

I hope B105 kept the doctor

I hope B105 kept the doctor as they are probably going to get some cases of shock on Tuesday when the next radio ratings survey comes out Brett...

As I've said before, I

As I've said before, I like Labrat, Camilla and Stav as people, but the show doesn't seem to be working - largely because, in my opinion, the baby talk has propelled them out of their target audience and is at odds with the musical format.

Only if they could hire

Only if they could hire "Waynie Poo"... At least Brett, it may stop B105 becoming the radio version of Channel 10, Aimed at kids, loved by kids, run by... you get the drift. Besides, what was 4BK playing before the conversion to B105 in 1990?

If you're looking for a

If you're looking for a comparision, B105 risks being where 4IP ended up - a once top-rating station consigned to oblivion.

Brett some other

Brett some other ideas...
Camilla,Labrat and Paige?

Would Bruce Paige adjust to breakfast radio? Considering his contract status with 9 is unknown, even if he decided to renew, having a serious person (i.e a father figure) on B105 might attract some dissatisfied 4BC listeners and might get B105 to stop the baby talk... and it may have the side effect of building 9 News's ratings by selling Paige to a younger (i.e top 40,Idol watching) fanbase.

It's been a while since

It's been a while since I've listened, but I don't think Stav is necessarily the problem. The team they have isn't targetting the audience they want. Bruce Paige definitely would not help attract a young audience, although he may work on another station with an older audience.

If Stav's going to insist on

If Stav's going to insist on going on with his purile 'Gotcha' calls...perhaps management should consider hiring Wayne Roberts to actually do them?
Thats the problem with Brisbane radio...No fresh ideas...Roll on 2009 when Jamie gets stuck into the Ruddster,Captain Bligh and The Borg...Even if you cant stand Jamie and Aggro...At least it will be something different.

Jamie Dunn different? You're

Jamie Dunn different? You're kidding! He had 15 or 16 years at B105, two away, but I'll bet he rolls out the same old stuff at 4BC... He is bringing the same crew he had at Zinc, including a writer that was with him at B105 when his ratings dropped to 8's...

And, just quietly, I can promise you the gotcha calls are not Stav's idea of good comedy - but his management love them!!!

I blame Matt Tilley ...

I blame Matt Tilley ...

I understand Jamie Dunn also

I understand Jamie Dunn also plans to do "Gotcha" calls when he returns to 4BC.

I don't understand why that segment continues to be popular with radio management. It's the same joke, over and over. People's reactions are always very similar: "You tricked me, ya bastard!" etc.

But then perhaps that explains why I'm not in radio management.
