The radio rumour mill is running hot in Brisbane that former B105 Morning Crew star Jamie Dunn will be returning to the capital from the Sunshine Coast and anchoring a show on 4BC. The talk station is certainly underperforming compared to similarly formatted stations elsewhere in Australia, and Dunn (at left, with alter-ego Agro) would be a big asset given his fan base in the over-40s demographic. The big question, though, is: Will Dunn be doing the drive shift, as has been suggested by some in the industry, or will he take over the breakfast show? Whatever happens, the word is that there will be big movements at 4BC next year, with the signing of other well-known voices and some behind-the-scenes changes as well. |

Bring it on !!! Maybe I'm stupid, but I happen to think news talk/talkback radio stations perform (or should) a very important service. For many people it's the only way they can have their say.4BC has been underperforming in recent years.I believe a lot of that is due to the general publics apathy re politics etc...Just look at how many halfwits have been elected ( By us ! ) to the Queensland Parliament lately. But I also think 4BC,as a station,is lazy.Their website is always 3 months behind the times.Their announcers,as I've said before, seem content to drift through their shifts. It's been a rare week when at least one of them has been either sick or on holidays. The station itself doesn't seem to know what it wants to be.Does it want to be a cutting edge news talk station or a lightweight, have a laugh at anything trivial format ?
Jamie Dunn is one of Brisbanes great radio talents ( We dont have many!) To here him grill the current crop of useless politicians would be required listening...For me anyway !

I agree entirely. As for the website, they had me listed as a contributor to the breakfast show for about a year after they axed me (it's in the Disclosure file). I mentioned this to the publicist, and she wasn't even aware that I wasn't on the show any more!

I say Brett, won't it be a tad bit crowded over at Cannon Hill if all these new voices come in (some specificly for the digital only stations) without some staff getting the boot?
Remember, Fairfax can produce a digital feed (and possibly a extra station) for 4BC and 4BH from May next year (after the digital radio startup date was moved from January 1 to May 1.)
(Here's a update on Dunn's former breakfast partner at B105, Ian Skippen. He apparently finished in the top 10,000 of the recent Bridge to Brisbane race (number 7736 to be exact)...)

Well, I don't know the details of people's contracts, so I couldn't say who - if anybody - will be leaving. But I have heard it said that John Miller is coming back to do weekends (with Alex Bernard, who will leave the afternoon show to let Rod Tiley fly solo).
