But wait, there's more

I've received a breathless press release from Channel 9 announcing its line-up for the rest of the year. Highlights include:
+ Dramas The Strip (filmed on the Gold Coast) and Scorched;
+ Series 2 of reality show The Chopping Block;
+ A new series of Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares;
+ A renovation makeover show called Battle Fronts; and
+ The long-awaited (by fans, at least) final series of McLeod’s Daughters.
Enough to win the year from Channel 7, which has a little thing called the Olympics? Time will tell

Is the Olympics counted in

Is the Olympics counted in official ratings Brett? I also wonder if attendance to this years EKKA will be down due to the Olympics? (being a cheaper alternative and after the flu scare of last year) Seven must be kicking itself that it's rejuvenated and "proudly for Queensland, especially Brisbane" competitor, sponsors the event and Seven may not have a way to air the Olympics in the "Channel Nine Sports Bar" or in a specific space like at Nova Park (which Olympic coverage could be great filler in between bands.)

So tell me what you think (hopefully you get live Olympic coverage in China...)

I think allowances are

I think allowances are made in the ratings for the spike Seven will get for the Olympics, but there's no doubt that they will be attractive to advertisers.
A sports bar without the Olympics would be bizarre indeed.
I will have the chance to watch the Olympics if I choose to; but I may not choose to.

I guess my clue was a

I guess my clue was a giveaway Brett. Nine is sponsoring the EKKA, and Seven more than likely can't stand it, especially that the fact is the majority of the days the Ekka runs in 2008 coincides with the Olympics.

Then you have Riverfire within days of the closing ceremony of Beijing (which more than likely will have promotion shunted to after the Olympics to fit ads in for people who sell tennis shoes, cross trainers, gym memberships and vitamins)

Add to that the fact daylight saving starts at the start of October this year (which has forced the NRL back to a 5pm Sydney time/4pm QLD time Grand Final start) and thanks to the wonders of technology, Queenslanders can read spoilers for any live program (i.e Sydney/Melbourne) Seven puts on instead of watching it on delay in Queensland.

In other words Brett, one bad move by either 9 or 7 in Queensland during August/early October could cost them 2008.

This week's Highlights

This week's Highlights include:

- ... and I imagine that having the rough end of a pineapple shoved violently into my rectum, several times daily over a week long period would be less painful! Brad Coward

- ... (which also includes pushing to get on a train or lift before others get off, and allowing children to urinate or defecate just about anywhere they damn well please). Brett Debritz

- Kuttsywood and Brad, it looks like we're going to have make a proper pitch to Ten for a remake of The Box with the three of us as highly paid executive producers! Brett Debritz

- In other words Brett, one bad move by either 9 or 7 in Queensland during August/early October could cost them 2008. Kuttsywood
